Вельвет: Literary agency PFD has taken over the Mervyn Peake estate from David Higham Associates, and will now represent the Gormenghast author's inheritence globally across all media platforms. In 2011, to mark the centenary of Peake's birth, PFD is to publish previously unseen illustrations, as well as celebratory editions of his written work. A travelling exhibition of his paintings and drawings will be launched in October this year in Lausanne. PFD said there was also "considerable" film interest in the Gormenghast trilogy, and a major TV documentary on Peake’s life and an international schedule of his plays was currently under negotiation. Sebastian Peake, trustee of the Mervyn Peake estate, said: "As the centenary of the birth of Mervyn Peake approaches, his family are delighted to announce that with immediate effect, the energies of the various agents at Peters Fraser & Dunlop will be fully committed to promoting this significant event." Author of the three Gormenghast books, Mervyn Peake, who died in 1968, was also well known for illustrating classic works such as Treasure Island and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Peake’s Gormenghast books were adapted by the BBC into a television series starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers in 2000.
