Вельвет: Фильм собираються выпустить ближе к Марту 2009. Джонатан там играет, как я понимаю, главного злодея. Вмся According to this website Shelter will be in theaters in early March of 2009. I don't know how reliable this is, though, because it says Nala is the distributor. I know they produced it but can they also distribute it? I thought they were looking for a distributor. Anyway, March is soooo long to wait. I wish he had something else coming out sooner. Summit Entertainment, most closely associated with the "Twilight" blockbusters, is scheduled to release "Shelter" some time in the first quarter of this year. Other movies for early 2010 have dates, photos and press materials on Summit's site so I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. But this is as close as we've been since the movie wrapped up shooting here in May 2008. Moore plays psychiatrist Dr. Cara Jessup, who has made a career out of defying the notion of multiple personality disorders and providing such convincing courtroom testimony that many defendants have been sentenced to death. Jessup is devoted to science but never lost faith in God, even after her husband was murdered. Her young daughter (Brooklyn Proulx) is a non-believer. After a particularly troubling court case, Jessup's psychiatrist father (Jeffrey DeMunn) introduces her to his new patient (Rhys Meyers). As Jessup explores his past, she starts to question her beliefs in science and God and finds her family in danger. Two Swedes, Bjorn Stein and Mans Marlind, co-directed the movie written by Michael Cooney ("Identity"). It also stars Frances Conroy and Nate Corddry. "Without her, the film would be unrelenting. Listen to her laugh in the film. That's her laugh." Sitting in a New York City cafe near the home she shares with her husband, writer-director Bart Freundlich, and their two children, Caleb, 12, and Liv, 7, Moore laughs easily and often. Filmed in just 21 days, "A Single Man" was a mostly solemn affair due to the subject matter, with the exception of the week Moore spent on the set. But filming a scene in which the two characters share an intimate dinner, "we just laughed and laughed and laughed." "That I have a job at all these days is fortunate," she says. When met with incredulity that someone of her stature would have to worry about that, she nods her head forcefully. "The entire world is in economic decline right now. I think you should never take employment for granted. Not any of us." But given her druthers, what does she dream of doing next? Moore shrugs. "It's just as easy to do a bad independent movie as a bad commercial movie. Just because something's independent doesn't mean it's good. And I've found that there's just no such thing as any kind of a plan. I admire actors who can say, 'This is what I'm doing to do,' because it never worked out for me that way. (OK, she did Hannibal, but everyone makes mistakes). This is a scary one. I’m talking Silence of the Lambs scary. She plays a forensic psychiatrist who specializes in disproving the notion of multiple personality disorder, asserting that the ailment is most likely shrink-induced and little more than a staple for sensationalist movies and TV shows. Until she meets a patient initially named Dave. Nearly stealing the movie is Jonathan Rhys Meyers in a virtuoso performance as her latest debunking opportunity, a guy whose several personalities are all murder victims. As she searches for a rational explanation, her belief in science is shaken, as well as her faith in God. You’ll have to find out yourself what’s up with this guy. Moore plays Cara, a forensic psychiatrist who is called in by her also psychiatrist father (Jeffrey DeMunn) to examine an unusual case, David/Adam (Jonathan Rhys Meyers). Convinced there is a perfectly sound medical reason for his odd behaviour, Cara, widowed mother of a small daughter, sets out to seek proof. Instead she finds a series of spooky people, places and events that make her question everything she believes in, morally and scientifically. Not a bad idea but in execution it becomes too busy and borderline bonkers, all too often steering perilously close to parody. It crosses genres, between psychological thriller and horror in a way that does it no good because it achieves neither. Rhys Meyers gets ample opportunity to display his acting wares given that he's playing several roles and Moore gives her all until three-quarters of the way through where she seems to have some doubts. But neither of them can save it. Вельвет: It is not clear why so justly praised an actress as Julianne Moore should have submitted herself to Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein’s demonically challenged horror. Perhaps because it was written by Michael Clooney, who penned Identity — a far superior film. Moore has made a career out of defying the notion of multiple-personality disorders. Here she plays Cara, a forensic psychiatrist who becomes more and more shaken by Adam (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), a patient dumped on her by her father, also a psychiatrist. Adam evinces all the symptoms Cara usually denies. What is worse, it turns out that each “personality” he becomes mirrors someone who has been brutally murdered, including, we find out, Cara’s own husband. Her insistence on trying to find out what’s happening leads her ever nearer a satanic cult, the members of which make the witches in Macbeth seem like harmless amateurs. It is all pretty silly but engineered stylishly enough. Rhys Meyers plays all of his personalities with aplomb, and there’s always Moore, doing her best in not terribly favourable circumstances. Вельвет: В прокат вышел фильм «Убежище» — хоррор про запущенный случай расщепления личности с Джулианной Мур и Джонатаном Рис-Майерсом. Мать-одиночка (три года назад какие-то подонки убили мужа) Кара Хардинг (Джулианна Мур) в качестве психиатра-эксперта периодически доказывает, что очередной обвиняемый в убийстве вовсе не спал, пока квартирующая в его теле альтернативная личность творила зло. По ее мнению, мнимые психи придумывают своего мистера Хайда, чтобы уйти от ответственности под не вполне доказанным научно предлогом феномена множественной личности. Когда из очередного пациента (Джонатан Рис-Майерс), подброшенного папой-коллегой (Джеффри ДеМунн), личности попрут как из рога изобилия, Кара с привычным скепсисом примется за разоблачение, но столкнется с непротиворечивостью показаний обитателей довольно щуплого тела и все возрастающим числом покойников, причастных к данному случаю. История, написанная неравнодушным к проблемам расщепленного сознания («Идентичность», «Внутри моей памяти») сценаристом Майклом Шином, начинается как психиатрический триллер средней руки: клише на клише, но зато лица интересные. Шведский дуэт режиссеров Монса Морлинда и Бьорна Стейна старательно заводит камеру за спину Джулианне Мур под тревожные скрипичные шорохи; стоит ракурсу совершить резкий поворот — за плечом уже притаился Рис-Майерс, то тихий и растерянный, то агрессивный и презрительный, но неизменно битый жизнью и с вопросами веры на языке. Тревожным фоном маячат религиозные фанатики и народные целители оккультного толка. Но чем дальше героиня Мур углубляется в непроходимые чащи верований одноэтажной Америки, тем меньше становится похожа на Клариссу Старлинг из «Молчания ягнят» и больше на Дану Скалли, агента здравого, но не вполне уверенного в себе смысла в мире всепобеждающей чертовщины. Оставь авторы побольше неопределенности (то ли вколоть галоперидол, то ли вызвать экзорциста) — могло бы выйти добротное кино про истину «где-то там». Увы, решительно и без малейшего намека на спасительную скандинавскую иронию они превращают картину даже не в растянутую до полного метра серию «Секретных материалов», а в продукцию, на которую можно наткнуться, если включить в ночи телеканал ТВ3, известный как «Настоящий мистический». Поэтому, когда в местных архивах обнаруживается прекрасно сохранившаяся кинохроника вековой давности с ответами на все вопросы, может быть, и хочется думать, что это такая нордически-отмороженная форма издевательства над жанром, но наука и здравый смысл учат нас не искать более сложных объяснений там, где вполне сгодится простое. У «Убежища» нет никакого второго «я» – оно просто прикидывается какое-то время разумным существом, грубо используя стоический героизм хороших актеров. Американский триллер с Джулианной Мур и Джонатаном Рисом Майерсом (прославившимся после исполнения главной роли в драме Вуди Аллена «Матч-пойнт») был выпущен еще в прошлом году, а наши экраны попал только сейчас. Ну, в любом случае, лучше позже, чем никогда. Мур играет мать-одиночку, невозмутимого практикующего психиатра Кару Джессап, основной специализацией которой является тема разоблачения идеи о синдроме раздвоения личности. Собственно, фильм начинается с эпизода, в котором Кара убедительно разоблачает оправдательный приговор признанному невменяемым убийце, из-за чего того отправляют на электрический стул. Но вот однажды отец Кары, также опытный психиатр, показывает ей пациента, чья болезнь не поддается рациональному объяснению: в нем совмещаются не две, а как минимум четыре или даже более личностей. Постепенно наука уступает место мистике: в обличье обычного человека живет демон, который крадет души мертвых. В последние полчаса события принимают сначала угрожающий, а потом и вовсе убийственный характер. Снял фильм дуэт шведских режиссеров - Марс Марлинд и Бьерн Стейн. Они начали работать вместе еще на родине, и их специализацией сразу стало остросюжетное кино. Впрочем, с остротой сюжета здесь есть проблемы. Фильм должен держаться на таком себе детективном компоненте – когда Кара пытается понять, каким же странным недугом томим герой Майерса и кто он вообще такой. Но эта часть истории развивается довольно вяло. Самое интересное, что здесь есть – это сами Джулианна Мур и Джонатан Рис Майерс. Мур играет хорошо в любой ситуации и при любом бюджете. Майерс принял на себя куда более сложную роль: ему ведь надо перевоплощаться в целую полудюжину персонажей. С этим заданием он справляется. Другая особенность фильма – нетипично безнадежный для Голливуда сюжет. Хэппи-энд, понятное дело, давно превратился в неписаное правило, но в данном случае он более чем двусмыслен. Достаточно вялая медицинская история превращается вдруг в форменный кошмар – с некоторой даже убедительностью. Мораль, впрочем, довольно размытая: то ли – не верьте науке, а верьте своей интуиции, то ли – верьте в Бога и не ропщите на судьбу, а то худо будет – можно добавить еще несколько вариантов.
